Skiing & Snowboarding Portraits at Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton, PA

It’s known that I love shooting sports, I get to meet so many new athletes each year and spend my days on the fields. My latest adventure as a sports photographer was just a few weeks ago at Blue Mountain Resort. I’ve taken pictures just for fun as I was skiing down the mountain on my little point and shoot or GoPro, but this was the first time that I was getting to set up shots and create portraits. Renae and Tom headed out with me on the mountain, we got to the terrain park that had a great jump at the end of the park. After a number of jumps, we headed down the mountain to start again at the top of the terrain park again.

Now we were focused on the bars where Renae and Tom flew off with grace. I’m looking forward to getting to shoot snowboarders again and maybe next time add in a few skiers.

A Year in Review | TLM Productions | Somerdale, NJ

This year feels like it has gone by so fast, so many sessions and amazing new clients. Shall we take a look back on 2017 as it is coming to an end?

Kids Pictures

This year I got to spend some time with a handsome little guy during his first year, and of course we had to finish off his first year with a cake smash session!

Senior Portraits

Getting to work with so many creative seniors has been so much fun this year and I am looking forward to this coming year. First let’s throw it back to March when we got our final snow day of the 2016/2017 winter. Maddy came out and rocked her session in a knitted sweater and cream colored scarf, while it was freezing she braved the cold without her super cute army green knee length coat.

Senior Vintage Styled Shoot

Alexis looked gorgeous in her rust orange sweater and jeans for her fall. We caught the last few colors that were still hanging on. As we wandered the orange and yellow leafed covered trails, the setting sun created that magical golden light as it peaked through the trees.

Senior Portraits

We can’t forget about Tom’s early spring look, he pulled together a grayish blue button down and faded jeans as he kicked a soccer ball around on the field. I knew we were not going to get away without Tom kicking the ball around a little, before heading over the his high school for an outfit change and a few more pictures.

Weddings

The bells were ringing all year long, this was the first year that TLM did a handful of weddings and here are a few of our favorite dresses from this year.

Samantha’s ivory beaded, flowy straight line gown was gorgeous at her Mount Vernon, NJ beach wedding. Samantha’s dress billowed around her and Matthew as they said “I do,” as she headed down to walk along the water for their bridal portraits, her dress blew in the wind.

Philadelphia Weddings

Next up is Denise’s elegant mermaid wedding dress! The ruching and ivory lace design across the bodice and white lace trim were beautiful with the full tulle skirt.

Last but not least is, Lauren’s a-line ivory lace skirt and silk top, everything was pulled together with a lovely silver beaded designed belt.

Being Thankful all Year Round | Cherry Hill, NJ

It’s the time of year that we start to think about the things that we are thankful for. I have been working on this list all year long, because I’m thankful for all the little moments in my life. We all have so much to be thankful for, family (biological and the ones we choose), friends, and that we wake up each day with love in our life.

While I love all the little moments, the big moments that I am most thankful for this year are :

Matt proposing!

Engagement Session at Longwood Gardens

Going to see Renae at college in Georgia with my mom and Tara.

Getting to shoot some amazing seniors.

Senior Portraits

Taking my first family vacation with Matt’s family to Disney world.

Spending time with my family.

Shooting sports and spending time on the athletic fields.

Shooting High School and Youth Sports

The fall is my busiest sports season, I spend most of September on a soccer, football, or field hockey field getting all of the pictures I needed for the collages I am creating. Because I spend so much time on the fields walking around with a camera in hand, I get a lot of questions from parents and friends about what settings I’m using and equipment. Today I want to share with you just a few of the settings I use.

Shutter Speed: 3200, ISO: 800, Aperture: f/5

I have had my Canon 70D for a few years now and I love it. This does not mean that you have to run out and switch to Canon, I know they are expensive and I have seen some amazing photographs from different brands. The best thing I can recommend is find the camera that fits your budget and if you are going to try your hand at sports photography, be sure to get one that you can eventually grow into manual mode. I started on a point and shoot camera in full auto, but now I shoot on a DSLR and in full manual. I upgraded my starter kit lens to a 70-300mm lens, so that I could get those across the field shots.

Shutter Speed: 800, ISO: 250, Aperture: f/7.1

Depending on the weather my settings will change, if you are just starting out, try putting your aperture or ISO or both in auto. Slowly transition into manual that way you understand what each setting is doing. Learning your shutter speed might be the easiest one to learn when you are still learning to shoot sports. With that being said, I don’t recommend shooting any lower than 250 as your shutter speed. Once you get to 200 or lower with a fast paced sport your picture could get blurry.

Shutter Speed: 1328, ISO: 6400, Aperture: f/5

I hope all this helps as you hit the fields in the last few week of the fall season.

2017 is only a few days away and we are looking back at some of our favorite pictures, sessions, and blogs for the 2016 year.

TLM Productions started the year off with celebrating Laila’s first birthday with a cake smash session. Laila had cake all over everything and we had a dance party too!

We joined a few seniors and helped them celebrate their senior year with senior portraits that showed off their personal styles.

Ran the fields with the amazing TLM Sports athletes!

Shared the love with our loving couples to celebrate proms, weddings, love, and engagements!

Here is to an amazing 2017!

Smoke Powder is an athlete's collage to show their athletic season. With 15-20 images, Smoke Powder collage is worth over a 1,000 words. The wow factor of this action collage will leave anyone who sees it, wanting onw too!

I love all the different aspects of photography, portraits are where I focus, but sports might be the most fun and challenging for me. I started photographing soccer when my sister was in middle school, at that time I had a long way to go before I could even say that I was a sports photographer. While I didn’t think that I would still be shooting sports 6 years later, I am so glad I kept with it. I now love shooting sports and creating special one of a kind action collages for athletes.

This year, I was hired to create action collages for all 23 seniors on the Highland soccer teams. I was nervous and excited to accept the challenge of shooting 10 plus players at each game. If you have tried to photograph a soccer game before or even just watched a high school game, you know the players are on and off the field and move fast. While it took me a game or two to know all the athletes names and numbers, the excitement and quick on my feet thinking along with the jumping up for a header, out running the defense, and of course the game winning goals, made these collages look amazing!high-school-senior-sports-collage-2 high-school-senior-sports-collage-6high-school-senior-sports-collage high-school-senior-sports-collage-6high-school-senior-sports-collage-3high-school-senior-sports-collage-7
