Getting to work with high school seniors and learning about their passions is amazing. Lately, I have been working with a lot of athletes, many of them like Tom play more than one sport. Tom has been a soccer player since he was allowed to start playing, and when he got to high school he started wrestling. I meet Tom a few years ago and have worked with him the past two fall seasons for his soccer action collages.
This time around I got to go out on a shoot with Tom to his high school’s bleachers, so many football games watched from those seats. Not to mention all of the games that he got to play on that field, with the fans in the stands cheering Tom and his team on. While Tom is a star on the soccer field he is also a champion wrestler, this year Tom took #1 in his district for wrestling.
Good luck next year Tom in the beginning of your college journey and PA career.
For me, I loved playing sports, hiking, and camping, the pictures I took at prom were kind of like my school pictures. In front of a backdrop that looked nice, but told no story as to who I was. That’s when I got the idea prom pictures should be taken at a place that means something to you and your date.
PROM… it’s like a magical word when you’re in high school. It kind of is! The glitz and glamour, the dresses and hair do’s, the tux’s; OF COURSE it’s one of the highlights of Junior and Senior year! And why wouldn’t it be? In my area, prom is like a mini wedding, but that makes for a very memorable night.
If you are an athlete, why not combine the glamour of prom with your passion?! When Renae asked me to do her pictures for her junior prom, I incorporated soccer since her and her date have played pretty much their whole lives. A year later we headed out with a few of Renae’s friends and played off the athlete’s glamorous night.
Shannon and Erin play softball, while Renae is a soccer player; being able to show off their love of sports and love of fashion was so much fun.
Kelsey was so much fun to work with. It may have been almost 90 degrees, but Kelsey’s down to earth country style and love for our country and sports made for a wonderful session. The lake at Washington Township lake park was the perfect backdrop for her southern style.
Kelsey’s sweet smile shined through the session, and her smile when she saw the pictures got even bigger. I couldn’t wait to continue shooting with her after an amazing time in front of the lake, so we moved over to the athletic fields. Kelsey will be playing lacrosse in college, and we wanted to capture the amazing athlete within her.
Senior year is an exciting time in anyone’s high school career. What were the things you look forward to the most in high school? The Friday night football games, hanging out with your friends on the weekends, the senior trip, prom, and above all graduation day! That is exactly what Renae is doing this year; along with looking stunning in her senior portraits. Renae’s maroon sweater and cream lace skirt stood out against the orange, brown, and green leaves. Fall was a great time to take her pictures, the colors of the leaves made for a beautiful and colorful background.
The old Slim’s Ranch gave us the hiking trails with the wooded feel, while open field showed us the meadow and openness that Renae loves; all with the colorful leaves of fall.
Renae is an honor student, volunteer, and the captain of the soccer team.
