A Year in Review | TLM Productions | Somerdale, NJ

This year feels like it has gone by so fast, so many sessions and amazing new clients. Shall we take a look back on 2017 as it is coming to an end?

Kids Pictures

This year I got to spend some time with a handsome little guy during his first year, and of course we had to finish off his first year with a cake smash session!

Senior Portraits

Getting to work with so many creative seniors has been so much fun this year and I am looking forward to this coming year. First let’s throw it back to March when we got our final snow day of the 2016/2017 winter. Maddy came out and rocked her session in a knitted sweater and cream colored scarf, while it was freezing she braved the cold without her super cute army green knee length coat.

Senior Vintage Styled Shoot

Alexis looked gorgeous in her rust orange sweater and jeans for her fall. We caught the last few colors that were still hanging on. As we wandered the orange and yellow leafed covered trails, the setting sun created that magical golden light as it peaked through the trees.

Senior Portraits

We can’t forget about Tom’s early spring look, he pulled together a grayish blue button down and faded jeans as he kicked a soccer ball around on the field. I knew we were not going to get away without Tom kicking the ball around a little, before heading over the his high school for an outfit change and a few more pictures.

The bells were ringing all year long, this was the first year that TLM did a handful of weddings and here are a few of our favorite dresses from this year.

Samantha’s ivory beaded, flowy straight line gown was gorgeous at her Mount Vernon, NJ beach wedding. Samantha’s dress billowed around her and Matthew as they said “I do,” as she headed down to walk along the water for their bridal portraits, her dress blew in the wind.

Philadelphia Weddings

Next up is Denise’s elegant mermaid wedding dress! The ruching and ivory lace design across the bodice and white lace trim were beautiful with the full tulle skirt.

Philadelphia Weddings

Last but not least is, Lauren’s a-line ivory lace skirt and silk top, everything was pulled together with a lovely silver beaded designed belt.

Wedding Planning for the Non-wedding Planner | Picking Vendors

Wedding Planning for the Non-wedding Planner | Picking Vendors

It’s time for another personal blog.

Engagement Session at Longwood Gardens

Weddings are time for celebration and joy and I hear the day of is wonderful! I have found that trying to pick vendors can be challenging. As I sit here writing this, I am still missing a few, but I have found that getting some help has made the world of a difference. Matt and I started researching different venues and vendors a few days after our engagement. So many people were asking us about the venue, the photographer (many asked if I was doing my own pictures lol), and everything else. We had not started thinking about anything yet, because it was only the day after we got engaged.

It took Matt and me four months pick our ceremony and reception venue, but it only took me about 1 day to know who I wanted to be our photographer. If you are in the process of planning anything, you will see things like this happening. While Matt and I were going through all of the vendor research, we wanted to make sure that we liked each vendor we would be working with. Knowing that we liked and shared similar views as the owners, even if it would be someone else working with us on our wedding day, we knew that we would get along and have a great day. Matt and I are in similar industries that we need to be hiring for our wedding. This means that we know what we want, and it makes it a little harder to pick who we want to work with.

Engagement Session at Longwood Gardens

While picking some vendor were easy, we are still on the fence for a few others, and for that … we needed some help. I asked Keara of Keara Anne Weddings for some help finding a florist, and she has been amazing! She sent me a great list of florists for Matt and me to review. If you are looking for a wedding planner, I highly recommend Keara. She takes everything you are thinking of and comes back with what you were thinking and more.

As for styling, we needed some help with the groomsmen and Matt’s outfit. Matt and I knew that we did not want him in a full tux, but what we wanted was proving hard to find. We asked stylist, Susan of Susan Padron Stylist, for some help and she came back with a few wonderful outfits. Now it’s time for us to just decide on the final colors.

Being Thankful all Year Round | Cherry Hill, NJ

It’s the time of year that we start to think about the things that we are thankful for. I have been working on this list all year long, because I’m thankful for all the little moments in my life. We all have so much to be thankful for, family (biological and the ones we choose), friends, and that we wake up each day with love in our life.

While I love all the little moments, the big moments that I am most thankful for this year are :

Matt proposing!

Shooting High School and Youth Sports

The fall is my busiest sports season, I spend most of September on a soccer, football, or field hockey field getting all of the pictures I needed for the collages I am creating. Because I spend so much time on the fields walking around with a camera in hand, I get a lot of questions from parents and friends about what settings I’m using and equipment. Today I want to share with you just a few of the settings I use.

Shutter Speed: 3200, ISO: 800, Aperture: f/5

I have had my Canon 70D for a few years now and I love it. This does not mean that you have to run out and switch to Canon, I know they are expensive and I have seen some amazing photographs from different brands. The best thing I can recommend is find the camera that fits your budget and if you are going to try your hand at sports photography, be sure to get one that you can eventually grow into manual mode. I started on a point and shoot camera in full auto, but now I shoot on a DSLR and in full manual. I upgraded my starter kit lens to a 70-300mm lens, so that I could get those across the field shots.

Shutter Speed: 800, ISO: 250, Aperture: f/7.1

Depending on the weather my settings will change, if you are just starting out, try putting your aperture or ISO or both in auto. Slowly transition into manual that way you understand what each setting is doing. Learning your shutter speed might be the easiest one to learn when you are still learning to shoot sports. With that being said, I don’t recommend shooting any lower than 250 as your shutter speed. Once you get to 200 or lower with a fast paced sport your picture could get blurry.

Shutter Speed: 1328, ISO: 6400, Aperture: f/5

I hope all this helps as you hit the fields in the last few week of the fall season.
