Cape May, NJ Wedding at Mt. Vernon Beach | Samantha &Matthew

Cape May, NJ Wedding at Mt. Vernon Beach | Samantha & Matthew

Samantha’s dream wedding happened this past Memorial Day weekend! Her dream of a beach wedding happened in between the thunder and scattered showers. The gloomy day was not going to stop Sam and Matt saying “I do” in their simple yet beautiful beach ceremony.

The guys copied the “Beatles famous picture” while crossing the street to get the trolley. The trolley arrived on the corner of the main strip in Cape May, to pick up the groom and guests and take them to Mount Vernon beach. It was a few minute drive but everyone seemed to enjoy getting to start the laughs and celebrating early.

After a lovely ceremony we all jumped on the trolley and headed to the Victorian house that Sam and Matt rented for the reception. The backyard had a wonderful romantic beach theme for this cute intimate wedding.

Wedding in Blackwood, NJ at the Palace | Denise & Brian

Blackwood, NJ Wedding at the Palace | Denise & Brian

When you love a holiday, how do you celebrate? With a wedding of course! Denise and Brian invited friends and family to their wedding Cinco de Mayo at the Palace in Blackwood, NJ. Brian and Denise are down to earth but love to party, and their wedding was the perfect place to do so. Although it was raining outside, you would never know inside with all the shining smiles. Denise and Brian chose Disney’s Aladdin’s “It’s A Whole New World” to walk out of their ceremony to.

It stopped raining after the ceremony and we were able to slip outside for some bridal party and individual portraits.

Of course you have to walk in with sombrero, if your wedding is on May 5th.

After a night of dancing and a conga-line, they enjoyed their cake with a little icing on the nose.

Media, PA Wedding Celebrating Two Cultures | Vishal + Ajila

Media, PA Wedding Celebrating Two Cultures | Vishal + Ajila

An unusually warm fall day in late September, a sweet ceremony in a romantic stone walled church. Candles flickering and love floating through the air, as the flower girl lets the rose petals fall gently to the floor. Vishal and Ajila’s intimate wedding ceremony was the perfect start to their life filled with tradition. Ajila’s elegant white dress and chapel length veil paired with Vishal’s James Bond style black suit, a wonderful fit to their lovely personalities. The stone walls of the Kings Mills building help show off the bold red of the bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen’s ties as the group showed off how much fun they like to have. We think their favorite part of the bridal party pictures was when the groomsmen tried to carry Vishal off, but he was holding Ajila’s hand as she tried to give him a kiss.

Indian Wedding in Media, PA

The fun didn’t end there, it’s time to change to outfit number two! Everyone went to change, because now it’s time to show off their party side and share in their Indian tradition. Ajila’s gorgeously stunning navy blue and gold saree looked amazing next to Vishal’s gold and maroon Sherwani, which he looked handsome in, by the way! We walked by, what we can only guess would be an outdoor ceremony space and did a few portraits there, before heading to an arch that just drew your eye to them, if your weren’t already just staring in amazement of how wonderful these two are together.

Well, it’s time now to hit the dance floor and if you have not been to an Indian wedding before, you better bring your dancing shoes. Everyone was on the dance floor after the cake cutting and and I mean everyone!

Congratulations to Vishal and Ajila!
Here’s to many years of happiness.

New York City Fashion Week

New York City Fashion Week

Have you ever felt like a kid in a candy store? This is how I felt on the train ride up to New York City on the second Saturday in September. Let me back track just a little. Earlier this year, I worked with Jamal a wedding and fashion photographer. We kept in touch over the last few months and fashion week was our opportunity to work together again. Now back to the kid in a candy store…

NYC Fashion Week

I will say that I am not one with the best fashion sense (I’m working on it), but I love seeing the amazing designs that the designers come up with. Faraj Couture’s Mod Mara (www.modmara.com) was amazing! I could totally see myself wearing a few of her outfits out for a fancy date night. Glitter Trunk Fine Art Jewelry’s jewelry was beautifully paired with Faraj’s designs. The girl’s were so sweet and had a lot of fun when we headed out to the streets for some fun New York style fashion week photos.

Brand Ambassador for Makaila James | South Jersey Photographer’s Tale

Brand Ambassador for Makaila James | South Jersey Photographer’s Tale

There are many ways to promote and tell people about your company. Social media is an ever growing force, we can reach more people than ever before. I love networking with people in person and online. I met Monica through the Rising Tide Society’s social media, we were in an Instagram pod together and got to know each other’s services and products. Monica’s company Makaila James was looking for a few more brand ambassadors. Her ambassadors help promote the clothes that Makaila James offers, by showing the clothing off to their following on social media.

I have to say Makaila James’ clothing might be my favorite online clothing site. Everything is so comfy and there is a large variety of outfits! I started out with a few of Makaila James “Haute & Fit” line shirts, they are great for working out or wearing around the house; Renae even joined in the fun of enjoying their comfort during a few of her workouts. My favorite one is a faded army green color that says ‘Be Kind.’

Of course I had to check out their “Dresses” and I fell in love with ‘The Venice Maxi Dress.’ Not only is it gorgeous and stunning, but it also is wrinkle free, a lovely dark blue, and super comfortable. I wore ‘The Venice Maxi Dress’ during my engagement session at Bushkill Falls, (we were hiking/walking up stairs and trails) and this dress was so easy to walk and climb the stairs and hike on the trails. It truly is amazing!

I am looking forward to my next outfit from Makaila James!

Branding Portraits with Keara Anne Weddings | Jenkintown, PA

Branding Portraits with Keara Anne Weddings | Jenkintown, PA

I love meeting people and getting to learn about them. Rising Tide Society is a great group for creatives and wedding industry people. I met Keara at our RTS June meeting at Ali’s Wagon in Philadelphia, we got to talking after the meeting and continued emailing over the next month. We wanted to work together and we figured out the perfect way to start, Keara is just starting Keara Anne Weddings, her wedding coordination company and needed some new headshots and lay flats that showed off her colorful style.

Keara Anne Weddings

Keara and I meet at her office in July, after a little rearranging a few things to get the best lighting, we got her office set up. We wanted to show off just a few of the items, that you will find on her desk during one of your in-person meetings. Keara is not only an entrepreneur, but also a mom, so we got a few shots of her adorable boys helping her work, and playing on the side of her desk.

Keara Anne Weddings

After hanging out in her office for a little, we headed to downtown Jenkintown, PA. It was time for head shots and some lifestyle photos to finish off our session. I am looking forward to getting to work with Keara again. If you are looking for a month of / day of coordinator or just some help with your wedding planning be sure to check out Keara’s website here.

Wedding Planning for the Non-Wedding Planner

Wedding Planning for the Non-Wedding Planner

I am in no way a wedding professional, and today this is not a post about one of my sessions. It’s a personal blog that I wanted to share, well it will be part 1 of a few. If you are recently engaged or just love everything wedding, then you may enjoy a personal account of real life wedding planning for the non wedding planner. I got engaged this past winter! I was so excited, and I still am. I get to plan an amazing celebration with my best friend. Yes, I am having Matt help me in every piece of the wedding planning process, after all it is OUR day.

Engagement Session at Longwood Gardens

Probably the most important thing we’ve learned, you have to pick and choose your battles and just let somethings go. I am so happy that Matt and I took time for just the two of us to discuss what we really wanted and what was most important to both of us. For Matt, it was the caterer and then maybe the venue, for me it was the photographer and then the venue. With this in mind, we knew what we would want to fight for the most. Other than a little push back on the barn venue, there was not much arguing; but after explaining that the barn we picked had air conditioning and was not a barn for livestock anymore, everyone was on the same page.  Now we have all three of our wants booked for our July 2018 wedding, but it was not all easy sailing to get to this point.

In the days after our engagement, I learned real quick that everyone wanted to tell Matt and I what our wedding should be. No I don’t mean what they thought it should be, I mean what they wanted. No idea was held back; from the venue, to the dress, to pretty much anything you can think of. Some were serious “request/suggestions,” and others were joking around. My favorite joke one came from my cousins. The wedding my cousin’s planned was held in my grandparents’ backyard and included pizza, a keg, and a bouncy house. It wasn’t really my ideal wedding, but we all had a good laugh.

Engagement Session at Longwood Gardens

Matt and I still have a ways to go before we can say that we are done with the wedding planning, but we have learned that what is important for us IS worth standing our ground for. We now have our list of things that are negotiable, and we are learning what is important to our parents.

Nashville

Navigating the world of wedding planning is not an easy thing, and it’s pretty stressful at times. Not everyone likes the same thing or agrees on what something should look like. My suggestion is to sit down with all of your parents, talk about what they have envisioned your wedding would look like, and then start the planning. This way at least you have an idea before you start the planning, whether you take their vision into account or not, or just part of it. Don’t forget to have your list of non negotiables and negotiables, after all the wedding is about you, but it’s also for your parents.

Couple’s Sunset Brigantine, NJ Beach Portraits | Renae + Tom

Couple’s Sunset Brigantine, NJ Beach Portraits | Renae + Tom

Renae has been going to Brigantine, NJ since she was born, a few days to a week down the shore with her grandparents and family. For the last few years, Tom has joined Renae’s family and the last two years they have done portraits on the beach. When you both have a love of the sand, salt air, and waves, where better to take your couple’s pictures?! Renae loves the sunsets over the bay, but wanted to show off the place they spent every chance they could this summer.

Couple's Beach Session

We started our session in the wet sand that was only kissed by the waves, walking along the blue water, a few in the lifeguard stand, before heading back up the beach to the dunes. Don’t worry we didn’t climb or disturb anything, we stayed at the bottom to get the long grasses in the background and the few that were on the beach in front of them. Tom and Renae love playing soccer and running around just having fun no matter what game they are playing. To capture this side of them, I had them run off the dunes and down to the water. That sunset was coming up on us fast, so we drove over the to docks. We got there just in time to see the sun come out from under the clouds, and get the gorgeous pinks and oranges.

Until next year, I will be swooning over Tom and Renae’s sunset pictures.

Behind the Scenes Look into Vintage Philadelphia, PA | VinSpire

I met Destinee of Vinspire during a February Tuesday’s Together meetup, we got to talking and thought we wanted to work together. Destinee teamed up with me to create a fun vintage inspired senior shoot. We took Destinee’s knowledge of vintage and matched up great makeup and hair styles with the girls wardrobe. Lauren and Maddy joined us as models and looked amazing!

Everyone came over and Destinee got to work, while I started taking on behind the scene pictures.

When all was said and done, Lauren and Maddie looked great and we headed into Philadelphia to fit our vintage theme.

Camden Waterfront Family Portraits | Toni + Fran + Symone

Camden Waterfront Family Portraits | Toni + Fran + Symone

I love getting to shoot in new places, this time it was on the Camden Waterfront, in front of the Adventure Aquarium. I had been waiting for the urban adventure seeking family to join me for this location. The Philadelphia skyline in the background was gorgeous and the sun glittering off the Delaware River was stunning for this early evening family portrait session. We walked along the waterfront trail and enjoyed laughs and smiles and jokes all around.

Family Portraits at Camden Waterfront

It’s so much fun when a client comes up with a idea, just to see if it will become a wonderful artistic photo. Toni was looking at their reflection in the windows behind me as I was shooting, she asked if I thought it would be a good picture. I agreed that it would look nice, but I was not sure about the blue or the way the reflection was looking. Once I turned it black and white, it turned out to be the perfect artsy portrait to be the centerpiece for her wall gallery.
