The timing of a storm can be amazing if you capture it as the clouds travel to their next destination. The way the light reflects and changes when it is coming through them, highlighting the edges when the clouds break apart and the sun warms the earth; even if just for a moment. Dancers can recreate all of this in the steps and movements of dance, a good friend of mine showed me this on a cloudy day in October. Alyssa has been doing ballroom dance for years and recently started doing some modern dance showcases.
Alyssa, used to pull me into the club dance practices when we were at Montclair State, she ran the club before she graduated with her math education degree. I loved learning the steps, although I am not sure my partner was to thrilled, a few wrong steps, but hey I was still learning. Alyssa met up with me at the Mercer County Park, on a cool and cloudy day. We had been talking about doing a dance shoot for a while and finally got to.
