I love getting to work with my clients again and this time Lauren was all dressed up in her gorgeous red two piece prom gown, ready to prom at the Adventure Aquarium. We did her portraits in her backyard, which has a lake! The water in the background was beautiful, but all eyes were on Lauren and Mark. When I arrived they were already taking family pictures, it was pretty hot outside so I was glad to see they were hiding in the shade.
Mark and Lauren figured out how they wanted to walk out for promenade. I had to capture the twirling and laughs, as everyone there was helping the two of them decide which would be the best spin.
Lauren’s family was not just celebrating prom, but also Matt’s, Lauren’s younger brother, 8th grade dance.
I hope you all had a wonderful time at your dances.
It’s PROM!! Well it was on Friday night for Tom and Renae, talk about looking a-maz-ing! I know I have said this before about them in last year’s Junior and Senior prom posts, but with it being their last and final prom, it was a different kind of feeling. Yes, I just said last and final prom, Tom and Renae are a year apart in school so this was their fourth high school prom. I thought going to my two proms was overwhelming, but Renae and Tom made all of their glamorous nights look so easy.
Tom looked handsome in his all black suit with a white jacket. He also borrowed a friends car so he could drive Renae around in style. Renae’s ivory lace and blush Jovani dress was gorgeous and showed off her tan beautifully. They danced and twirled under the lovely willows and whispered secrets on the bridge.
Where is the best place to take a theater couple’s engagement session? Philadelphia, of course! With Philly’s rich history and budding theaters it was the perfect backdrop for Vince and Cate. They have been together for six years and love singing in the church choir together. Vince proposed to Cate in May 2016 at Peddler’s Village in the perfect picture place, hearing Cate tell me about that day was magical and I knew I was going to have to match that magic in their engagement announcement photos and save the dates.
On a cloudy and misting morning in January, we started the day at Love park. Vince and Cate were naturals in front of the camera. You could see the love between them and how excited they were to be taking their engagement photos.
Xori and Nick were such a pleasure to work with. Xori had told me that she wanted to do a session near water because they love to go fishing on Nick’s Grandfather’s boat. After the weather sent rain on our original day, we rescheduled close to Thanksgiving and the weather was amazing! While it was a little chilly, there was no gusting winds or cool breezes.
I was so glad that I wore my rain boots so that I could get a few shot, because I had to backup into the Delaware River. I could feel how cold the water was through my boots! Freezing my feet was so worth it, because the quiet moments they spent whispering and cuddling were my favorites to capture.
You know a pose will be magical when, you hear them say this is my favorite.
It’s a beautiful sunny late June afternoon day, and Stephanie and Shawn are going to stand up in front of their friends and family and say “I do.” The Inn at Leola Village, which is just outside of Lancaster, PA, made for a perfect backdrop to their fancy, country themed, wedding. I had the pleasure of being a photographer for David Tutera Photography.
When I arrived, I met with the groom Shawn, and we headed to the groomsmen’s room to capture some fun photos of them getting ready. I asked Shawn if he had a theme that he wanted me to capture as part of the men getting ready. He told me that, “We have a super hero theme, the groomsmen are all wearing socks that represent different Marvel and DC Comics. My cousin would have been my best man, but he passed away while serving in the US military. He was and is my hero, so I am wearing camo socks with his badge and the American flag that was on his uniform.”
The two ring bearers were adorable, one liked playing with the pool balls and the other one asked Uncle Shawn for help with his bow-tie.
The guys all looked dapper in their tuxedos and super hero socks while looking like they were on a movie set.
Stephanie looked amazing as her dad walked her down the aisle.
I’ve seen different ways to symbolize the joining of two families and their pink and blue sand was a wonderful way to show their families becoming one.
“You are my best friend, and my other half. You mean the world to me and I love you!” Donna and Johnny have been partners for the few years, and their love for each other shines through in every way. Donna and Johnny’s families surprised them with a ‘Best Friends for Life’ ceremony in December just before Christmas at Adelphia. They were excited to say the least!
Everyone pulled their chairs onto the dance floor to watch these two best friends become partners for life.
Surrounded by family, Donna and Johnny said, “I promise to be your partner and best friend for life.”
Here is to Donna and Johnny and their happiness and love!
I often don’t post many pictures of myself on here, but I’m sure you have seen the handful of blogs about my parents, sisters, and of course my amazing boyfriend, Matt. I can’t help but share all of these of Matt and I with you. We try to do pictures twice a year, just so I can practice new techniques and I just love taking pictures with my amazing man. Little did I know, our couple’s session was going to turn into an engagement session!
Yes, you read that right, ENGAGEMENT session!
Matt proposed on December 17, it was our two year anniversary and asked me while we were in our favorite spot at Longwood Gardens.
The first time we had gone to Longwood was a month after we had started dating, yes we were and still are crazy enough to go walk around the 1,000+ acre gardens in the winter. It was also the first time I took pictures of us, and yes we had taken pictures on the very same bench where Matt popped the question.
I have been asked many times already if I knew he was going to propose, I had no idea when it was going to happen. There were so many thoughts running through my mind when I saw him turn around and pull out a little black box. All of those thoughts disappeared when I looked into his eyes and he asked me that little four word question, “Will you marry me?”
I am looking forward to spending many years with Matt and I’m sure you will be seeing a handful of other blogs about the two of us in the coming years.
During the summer months, Renae and Tom spend their days at the beach, playing soccer, washers, swimming, and of course watching amazing sunsets over the bay. Celebrating the start of another chapter in their lives, they wanted to capture an amazing close to the summer. We tried for a great sunset, but a storm was rolling in just as the evening started.
Don’t worry! We still had a blast walking around the sandy beach on the bay side of Brigantine. The Atlantic City casino lights were shinning bright as Tom spun Renae around dancing just out of the waves reach.
Our adventure of finding a sunset didn’t end there, we set out the next night and found an amazing colorful sky and a red sun. Harrah’s Casino in AC has a great bay walk behind it. We walked along the path towards a dock that we knew would be a great spot for the pictures I had in mind. It was so much fun watching and taking pictures of an adorable couple during the magic of a red setting sun.
It was a warm July afternoon a few days before Independence Day, I meet Dan and Dionna in Wildwood, NJ. We had been planning their session for a little while, when it was decided that the sunset over the bay would be the perfect location for them. We headed to the Jersey shore with the hundreds of others that were spending their Fourth of July weekend at the beach.
What better a place to spend a summer off from college than at the beach with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Dan and Dionna are doing just that! They went to high school together and reconnected on Thanksgiving Eve in 2015, but it was not until February of this year that they started dating.
The beach loving couple were so much fun to work with, it seemed like I was just another passerbyer as these two laughed, joked, and smiled through the whole session. It was as if I was not there at all, and the colors of the clouds in the amazing July sunset made for a beautiful backdrop for this gorgeous duo.
When you look up prom on Google you will find article after article, picture after picture, and checklist after checklist. These articles and pictures and checklists tell you “everything you need to know about” prom. Today prom is so much more than just a glamour night, the lead up to the dance is a big deal now too. Promposals are asked, girls spend the afternoon getting ready, the guys pull on their jacket and pick up their dates, and meet up with a group of friends for group photos. For Renae and Tom, they go take pictures before they meet up with the group.
These two are so much fun to work with, I’ve posted about them before. Our high schools have junior and senior proms because the classes are pretty big. Renae found a beautiful lake with a water fountain in the middle of it. As beautiful as the lake was, Tom and Renae made the lake look just like a lake, because they looked stunning all dressed up.
While we had a great time shooting, it was nothing compared the amazing time they had at prom.
